My Thoughts on the 50 Shades Grey Trilogy

*WARNING: This post will contain mature content, Over 18's please*

Last month I read the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy and went and saw the movie. I have been putting this post of for so long as I wasn't sure what to write and I was also scared of people's reactions to my opinions but after many people telling me it's my opinion, go for it I have decided to.

Here goes:

I loved the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy. They are far from my usual reads but I fell in love with them. I did at times struggle with some of the sexual aspects of the books but overall I enjoyed them.

This book has had so much criticism especially from people saying it shows domestic abuse. Sometimes I agree it can come across a little like that, some scenes are hard to read but if it gets too much Ana says no, she's in control. Whether you agree with that or not it's up to you.

Christian Grey is a broken man. Everyone loves a "broken man", someone dark with issues to fix and Christian Grey is that if not darker. He has his issues, boy does he but he eventually after many struggles and bad decisions he realises this, he may never be completely "fixed" but he becomes a better version of himself. This I applaud, it's a story of growth and realisation of an emotionally dysfunctional man.

One aspect of the story I struggled with was Christian and Mrs Robinson. I have had this argument with various people but in my opinion even though Christian agrees to everything he does with Mrs Robinson, he was a young boy who was emotionally unstable and Mrs Robinson used him and feed on his weakness and insecurities. To me what Mrs Robinson did to Christian is worse than anything Christian did to Ana.

Ultimately 50 Shades Of Grey is a love story. If not a dysfunctional one. A man falls in love or some say obsessively with a shy inexperienced girl, said girl falls in love with the dark controlling man but together they heal and push each other to be better.

Even if you love the book or hate it. You have to admit it has the planet gripped. I for one fell in love with it and it will stau with me for a long time.

Sunday Post #10

The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post was created by Caffeniated Book Reviewer this is a post where we recap on the going on's on the blog the week previous and the week coming up as well as the awesome books we have received, bought or been gifted for review

Lie In's I don't remember what they are?! My body clock is tuned to me getting up daily at 6.30 for week so when I had a day of on Friday I was still up at 6.30 :( however with my day of me and my friend went for Breakfast and it was the nicest breakfast ever, pancakes, bacon, eggs and syrup. Now I have never has syrup before with my breakfast but it was super nice and now one of my favourite things.

I have a few new ideas for the blog that I want your opinions on.

Idea one: In April/May I want to have a blind book giveaway. Basically I cover books in paper so you can't see the cover and tell you the genre and maybe a teaser from the book and you can enter to win it.

Idea two: I want to promote me UK YA authors. I am a UK blogger but don't seem to read a lot of UK authors which I think I need to fix. I want to feature a UK author every week. So leave me some suggestions of UK YA authors I should check out

Idea three: Running my blog on a schedule. I am thinking about having a basic schedule for my blog so you all know what's coming up. The schedule would be the same each week with added reviews and blog tours each week.

Tentative schedule:

Sunday: Sunday Post
Sunday: Upcoming Releases
Monday: Mortal Mondays (Review of a mortal instruments story each week a I have the Bane Chronicles and the new shorts releasing about Simon
Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday
Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesday
Friday: UK YA highlight

Lastly I won a great giveaway to have a character named after me in author Sarah Alderson's next book!

Discussion: Do you read hyped books?

What is a hyped book?

To me a hyped book is a book that publishers are pushing with loads of online promotion and calling it the next, Harry Potter or the next Hunger Games. The book may even be optioned for a movie and it isn't even released yet. Basically everyone is saying this book is a master piece. This is what a hyped book means to me, it may mean different things to others.

So do you read hyped books?

Over the years I have did this alot, I have read a "hype book" and ended up loving it and understanding the hype. One series that comes to mind is the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. However with other hype books I tried to read I just didn't get the appeal one series being The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Sometimes books I love that has beautiful writing, intriguing characters and addictive storylines aren't even hype books and I wonder how a publisher decides which book will be a "hype book".

So do you jump on the hype wagon? Do you like when books are compared to this and that? Have you read a hype book and wondered what the fuss has been about? Leave me a comment below!

I do not own any if the images above

The Problem With Heartache Blog Tour: Dreamcast & #Giveaway

The Problem with Heartache is the third book in the Crazy In Love Series.

My dream cast would be:

LEE: Adrian Grenier. I’m thinking with a few days of stubble. You have those piercing blue eyes, that dark hair … all he’d need is a few tattoos to be the perfect fit!

LACHLAN: I have loved Jared Padalecki since I first saw him in Gilmore Girls, and he IS Lachlan. The hair, the eyes, the dimple … swoon! He is perfect.

CARLY: Charlize Theron would be my perfect Carly. She can pull off different hair lengths, and has those captivating eyes. There’s a darkness about her, too, one that lurks within Carly.

KATE: I think Aussie actress Emily Browning would be perfect for this! She has a sweet face that holds so much emotion and depth, but she can also do edgy when she needs to. Her eyes are amazing. Love her!

The problem with heartache is that there’s no one-size-fits-all relief package. You can go to classes; you can try to embrace change. But when you wake up at two in the morning, a smile on your face because you’ve dreamt about the could have—theshould have—nothing will console you.
Because seconds later, you remember.
And remembering can rip you apart.

***
Kate will do anything for her family. It’s why she took the job with Lee. It’s why she’s attempting to forget her pain. But it's hard to forget, when you're desperate to hold on. Even if Lee Collins is the perfect package.
Lee will do anything for the ones he cares about. It’s why he hired Kate.
It’s why he keeps his secrets; and it’s why he cannot, will not fall in love. Not with Kate—not with anyone.
Ever.
The one thing he can’t forgive.
The one thing she can’t forget

Adapted For Film Blog Tour- Interview & #Giveaway

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your writing career?

I am a mom, a wife, an author, a publisher, and a book distributor. Translation: I am incapable of sitting still. Ever. My first series was the young adult Gryphon Series. It’s filled with a strong family bond, snarky humor, shape-shifters, pirates, demons, and loads of actions! My Legends Saga is a bit darker read but still maintains my trademark humor. It takes the works of Washington Irving and Edgar Allen Poe and incorporates them into a modern day setting. I love to write, truly. And consider myself blessed to make a career out of fulfilling my passion.

Tell us a little about your new book Adapted for Film?

Adapted is a light hearted read about an author whose best-selling romance novel is being turned into a movie. This take a turn for the worst when she and the director butt heads over their visions for the film. To save the project from tanking, the studio executives orchestrate an elaborate PR stunt linking her to the star of the film, and Hollywood heart throb, Greyson Meyers.

Where did the idea for Adapted For Film come from. What was the inspiration?

It was inspired by fangirls everywhere that have their favorite celebrity that they ogle. I couldn’t help but link how fun it would be to be thrown into a situation where it’s your job to cozy up to that beautiful specimen. I mean, how fun would that be?!

Can you describe Aubrey, Cole and Greyson in 140 characters or less.

Aubrey- Goal-oriented, career focused, control freak, romantically jaded

Kole- Laid-back, hard-worker, charming in a way that’s infuriating when you want to hate him

Greyson- Hollywood god. Sex on two legs with an undeniable magnetism
Why should we pick up Adapted For Film?

This is a great, quick read for by the pool or lounging on the beach. It’s fun, angst free and sure to make you laugh!

Publication date: March 9th 2015
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Synopsis:

Aubrey Evans is living every author’s dream; her sizzling romance novel is being turned into a blockbuster film. She would be celebrating this momentous event, if she wasn’t busy fighting over every tiny production detail with the maddeningly cavalier director, Kole Camden.

When news of their heated rivalry hits the gossip columns, drastic measures must be taken to save their sinking project. In an elaborate PR hoax, she is publicly linked to Greyson Meyers, the swoon-worthy star of her movie. A whirl-wind love affair is staged for the couple to mirror the steamy chapters of her own books.

Can the introverted author resist the charms of Hollywood’s sexiest leading man? Or will love find her in the City of Angels?
