Ted Saves the World Blog Tour and Giveaway!

Description of Ted Saves the World (Available for just $0.99): Amazon

A possessed cheerleader. A cursed gang of criminals. Mysterious telekinetic powers. An angry ex-girlfriend in gym class? One second, sophomore in high school Ted endures his first breakup in his favorite place in town. The next, a mysterious blue light turns him into a worldwide superhero sensation for taking down a posse of grisly murderers. As his views on YouTube increase and his friend Dhiraj tries to capitalize on the marketing potential, his dangers increase as well when a presumed-dead cheerleader begins taking a personal interest. Can Ted survive his first week as a superhero in the public eye?

This novella is the first taste in a series of full-length novels about the adventures of Ted Finley and Erica LaPlante. The book is also available on Barnes & Noble and Smashwords for $0.99.

My Roots By Bryan Cohen

Working on my first fiction book, Ted Saves the World has been a little bit like going back to my roots. No, the book isn't about my family's heritage or about my home town (though it is set in my home state of Pennsylvania). What I mean is that the book harkens back to my days as a high school nobody.

In high school, I was perfectly average, even personality wise. I had the occasional joke and an intelligent observation every so often, but mostly I was just your run of the mill high schooler hoping to be noticed long enough to secure a girlfriend. And then college happened. A lot changed during those four years away from home and the years that followed.

All of a sudden, I showed signs of a personality as I began to grow into my soul a bit. I became less scared of talking to people  (especially women) and I even ventured out on stage as an actor and a comedian. While I had some issues with ego for a bit, once I worked that out, I really enjoyed the person I'd become. I was content to put all thoughts about my awkward adolescence behind me. Years later, I decided to write a book about an average high schooler (who later gains super powers). It made sense to draw from my own experiences.

Looking back at the high school period of my life, it was interesting to think about how worried I used to be about embarrassment. I was almost happy that few people noticed me because getting recognized as a fool or a screw up would have been far worse in my eyes. In a way, by creating such a character and thrusting him into the spotlight as a worldwide superhero phenomenon, I've been able to confront my demons a bit. I was a good guy, I was simply scared of everything. What would it have been like if the fears of such minutiae were washed away with some rockin' telekinetic powers? Read Ted Saves the World to find out.

High school is a tough time for a lot of kids. I'm grateful in a way that I get to revisit it by creating a humorous yarn about a superhero, his school, and the women he loves.

  5. Awww... What a sweet and honest post! I'm really loving all of Bryan's posts on this blog tour. I can relate to the fear and awkwardness felt as a high school student and then coming into your on at college. It's truly a memorable experience, though I imagine superpowers would make it a lot easier:)
