YA Feature: Trinity by CJ Bolyne blog tour: Interview & Giveaway

Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into writing?

I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. When I was 9 years old, our family moved about an hour south of Winnipeg, to the country. So, I was raised as a country girl, and still am one today. I have always had an interest in writing and was told, in school, that I had a knack for it. However, the topics I wanted to write about were not popular at the time. When the time came where fantasy topics were becoming more popular, and after reading many books about fantasy, I decided to write one of my own. What did I have to lose? It was a blast writing my first one!

Can you tell us a little about your novel, Trinity?

Trinity is about a young woman who is a god, but doesn't realize it. Until she encounters a mysterious man who finds her and lets her know who she really is. She has a hard time believing it until someone tries to get to her. The mysterious man rescues her and her adventure begins.

Where did you get the idea for Trinity?

I love history and ancient mythological gods is one of my favorite topics. I had the idea for the story, I just wanted to find the right gods to use. I didn't want to use the more well known gods, Roman or Greek. So, I went online, love Google, and did some research. The Circle of Gods sounded interesting. I had never heard of them. Went to the website and there it was, The Gods of Gwynneth. I knew in an instant that these were the Gods I wanted to use in my story.

Trinity reminds me a little of Buffy the vampire slayer season 5 where a character called Dawn thinks she is a normal teenage girl but is infact a key. If you could cast your characters for a television series of Trinity who would you like to play them and why?

To be honest, I didn't watch Buffy all the way through the series. I lost interest because I just didn't like the way the series was going, so I'm not familiar with the Dawn character. Wow, I've haven't ever thought of such a question, however, if I should be so lucky, the main character of Payton I would love to see Ashley Greene play her character. I loved her in the Twilight series and yes I'm a twi-hard fan! I have no problem admitting that! I also love Kellen Lutz. He would be my choice for Terran, the male character. Let's face it, he's hot!

Is Trinity a standalone novel or the first in a series?

Trinity is the first in a series. I was going to make it one, but was advised by my publisher to make it a series. I realize that the first book is not very long, but the second one will be longer with more action. As well, my ideas for the third, well, I'm excited about it and hope everyone enjoys the finale.

Why should we read Trinity in one sentence?

I wrote Trinity because I love books that take you away from reality for a short time. That's what books are to me. Fun. I love to read fantasy and sci-fi. The imaginations of other authors are wonderful and I find that my imagination is just as colourful. I'm hoping everyone enjoys Trinity; just to put themselves in a fantasy world even for a very short time and have fun.

Anything else you would like to add?

I would like to say that I appreciate the opportunity you have given me to promote my book and hope for the best in the reviews. I'm looking forward to this tour. It is my first and I have to admit, I'm a little scared, yet excited at the same time.
