STUBBORN AS A MULE
The Sex and Sweet Tea Series
by Juliette Poe

Down in Whynot, NC, there are three things that hold true: 1) life moves just a little bit slower, 2) family means everything, and 3) you don’t mess with history.

When his family decides to sell a home that’s been part of their history for over a century, Lowe Mancinkus is madder than a hornet. To add insult to injury, the woman who purchased it is some fancy pants, city girl looking to fix it up and sell it off. Doesn’t matter that she’s sexy as hell or that just being near her gets his blood racing like never before. That home belongs to his family, or at least it did until she came to town.

Well that just won’t do, now will it?

From the moment that she laid eyes on the historical home in rural North Carolina, Melinda Rothschild knew Mainer House was something special. The perfect escape from life in New York City, Melinda signed the papers and set to work restoring the house to its natural beauty. That is until an angry Lowe showed up on her doorstep one day. With a scowl on his handsome, chiseled face. And a shotgun in his strong, muscular arms.

Is it getting hot in here?

Melinda’s about to get a lesson on life in the south, but Lowe is about to learn a lesson of his own – this city girl doesn’t back down from a fight.

Stubborn As A Mule is the second book in The Sex and Sweet Tea series but can be read as a standalone. I absolutely adored this book, it was southern sweetness at its best.

Stubborn As a mule follows Lowe who is outraged that his historical home has been brought by a stuck up Yank who is just going fix it and flip it and he not having it. He decides the best course of action is to paint it pink and threaten the builders with a shotgun, it would only happen in the small town of Whynot.

This story was just so refreshing, it's a sweet romance with sex implied and it was just so different from reading books with sex scene after sex scene. The romance was so slow burn and I can't help using the word sweet because it just was. There is some really sweet romantic scenes in this book and I swooned at them. The characters where so engaging and the town of Whynot was such a big character itself. The people in it where such that of a southern town I loved it.

Though out the book you get snippets from people around the town speculating on Mely the Yank who brought the house and Lowe who is our house painting villian ;)and there relationship and it just made the story so much fun. The cast of characters where so good, and I just want to visit Floyd at his hardware store and call into Sweet cakes bakery for a cupcake.

I really enjoyed the writing and could picture myself there with the characters. The Story is told in duel POV and I just think it suited the story perfectly.

Overall I highly recommend Stubborn As a mule it's a quick, fun, sweet southern romance and I can't wait to read more about Whynot in upcoming books. 4 massive stars!

  2. I usually prefer my romances to be more sexy than sweet, but this one does sound like a lot of fun. And I had no idea that Juliette Poe was Sawyer Bennett!
