Interview: Lisa Gail Green

The Author: Lisa Gail Green

I write paranormal and fantasy. I would most definitely have a werewolf for a pet if I weren't allergic. You can find me loafing around Twitter with my Tweeps or on any of the blogs I participate in. Paranormalpointofview.blogspot.com,Firstfivepagesworkshop.blogspot.com, scene13ers.wordpress.com, and EnchantedInkpot.com. It’s a wonder I have time to write!

Writing

I’ve been writing on and off since I was seven. I used to write (and still do) poetry and short stories, but even before that I used to sit for hours in my room and make up stories in my head, which is basically the same thing as writing without a computer or paper.

The Book: THE BINDING STONE (book 1 in the DJINN series)

Tricked into slavery by the man she loved, the Djinni Leela has an eternity to regret her choices.

Awakened in the prison of her adolescent body, she finds a new master in possession of the opal that binds her. But seventeen-year-old Jered is unlike any she’s seen. His kindness makes Leela yearn to trust again, to allow herself a glimmer of hope.

Could Jered be strong enough to free her from the curse of the Binding Stone?

How does it feel to be releasing you novel?

I can’t even express how exciting this is! It takes a long time to put out a book, so by the time it releases you’re pretty attached. But then it’s also nerve wracking because you’ll find out exactly what people think and writers as a species tend to be a bit self-doubting on occasion.

Can you describe your protagonist Leela in less than 140 characters?

Leela is a powerful Djinni tricked by the man she loved and sentenced to an eternity of servitude. Needless to say she’s feeling a little scorned.

If you could encourage anyone to pick up DJINN: THE BINDING STONE what would you say?

The book is full of magic, adventure, romance, and unforgettable characters. Try it out if you like any kind of fantasy!

Bookie Questions:

Favourite genre and why?

YA Paranormal and fantasy in general. I love being able to escape to new worlds (even within our own) where anything is possible and average people can turn out to be anything but.

Favourite YA author and why?

Libba Bray is my hero. She is not only an amazing author, she’s an amazing person. She’s full of insight and humor.

Debut author/ upcoming author we should check out?

There are so many!! I have to say Sarah Skilton because her book is NOT fantasy and I STILL loved it. Seriously though, BRUISED is amazing.

Favourite 2012 read and why?

Ooh, that’s really tough. I didn’t read as much last year due to a difficult pregnancy and then… well, you know what that leads to, right? LOL. But I did fit in a few and I have to say I LOVED Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

A book series you love and why?

Oh my there are so many! The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, the Hunger Games trilogy, and Harry Potter of course. Probably for the same reasons other people love them. They combine great characters, plot, and world beautifully.
