Cara always knew life on planet L'eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L'eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her. Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L'eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L'eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L'eihr relations. Humans don't know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx's people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists' multiple attempts on Aelyx's life. The Way clearly needs humans' help but with what? And what will they ask for in return?
Review
Invaded was one of my most anticipated reads in 2015 after I read and fell in love with Alienated in 2014. And I have to say I wasn't disappointed.
Invaded starts where Alienated finished with Cara preparing to go to L'eihr and Aelyx preparing to head to Earth to help form the Alliance. The story flips between Aelyx on Earth and Cara on L'ehir. Aelyx and Cara know things where going to be difficult, they just didn't know how much.
The story was fast paced and I kept turning the pages wondering what was going to happen next. Near the end there was so many twists and turns. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster, I was felling so many emotions. Shock, joy, scared, sad, so many more. Like Cara and Aelyx I didn't know who to trust.
There where however some characters I trusted and loved.
I loved Troy, Cara's brother, he may be an idiot and not know how to express his feelings like most men but he loves his sister and would do anything for her. I really warmed to Syrine and her interaction with David, Aelyx and Syrine's bodyguard. I of course loved Aelyx and Cara they are just perfect together, Aelyx is definitely a book boyfriend of mine.
Cara wants to become part of the society in L'ehir and I found the whole process very strange and embarrassing as did Cara. However when you think about it, if you where brought up to find it normal, the nudity, it wouldn't be an issue. I also think the whole breeding aspect was very clinical and I felt sorry for the little children.
The only main issue I had was that the book went very fast near the end. I like fast paced books however I think it went to fast. So much was happening it felt a little too rushed and the story felt broken in places.
Overall I really enjoyed the story. I loved the twists and turns and loved Cara and Aelyx's relationship. It has great supporting characters and will leave you wanting more!

DeleteI agree - this was so good! I also warmed to Syrine more than I thought I would - I hope the series continues, it would be interesting to see what Syrine does next, considering what happened in Invaded. Great review!
