The Knight Trilogy Jewellery range.
My very talented friend, Pippa came to see me a few weekends ago, bringing with her a little bag of surprise goodies. Pippa makes gorgeous handmade jewellery, often out of vintage and recycled items she finds at treasure markets. (Going to carboot sales is a complete addiction for us both.)
She had read The Forest of Adventures and thought that the magical fairytale elements were perfect for interpreting into a range of jewellery and bookmarks.
As a result, she spent some time working on a few designs that she thought I could use as giveaway promotions and to sell to fans on the website.
The bookmarks are absolutely gorgeous, (in fact all of it is gorgeous) but I think the bookmarks are particularly special. She has designed a range of three.
1.) A shield and butterfly used to represent Blake’s status as a Knight of The Realm and the change that comes about with his meeting of Mina.
2.) A Tree and flower to represent the beauty of the forest and the enchantment it holds
3.) A Flower and bead combination which evokes the cover-art of the book
Some people have asked why I have launched this range but I suppose it comes from my own experiences. It’s no secret that I am a huge Twilight fan and the book has a very special place in my heart. I own several bits of merchandise; one of which was a beautiful silver charm bracelet. It allowed me to take the book with me, hold the story visibly with me so that when I was sitting in ‘highly interesting’ strategy and planning meetings etc. I could take the magic with me. I liked the fact it asserted this part of me, a deep connection with a story which I loved.
I’ve had some beautiful fan mail lately about just this; the power of the story and how it allows for escape. It was nice to be able to send some gifts which connect with the story.
