#Discussion Is every YA book being made into a movie?

I love books. Well duh I have a book blog of course I love books. I also love movies. I especially love when some of my favourite books are made into movies BUT what annoys me is that every single YA book on the planet seems to be getting made into a movie. It is really starting to annoy me. Can't a book just stay a book for us to fall in love with, to get all the feels, to imagine it playing in our heads!

What annoys me even more is that when books are optioned for a movie before the book has even released and actors/ actresses are already linked to the project and we don't even have the chance to read it and imagine it for ourselves.

Is anyone else getting annoyed? Should every book be a movie? Should I be grateful some of my favourite books are being made into movies? Leave me your thoughts in the comments below.

I was a slight hypocrite and did a top ten tuesday this week on my top ten books I would like to see made into a movie or TV show. You can check it out here

  1. I actually don't mind so many YA books being made into movies. I think the fact that we know they are books is what is driving some people up the wall. In fact, the majority of movies we see that are epic like Poseidon, The Help and also things like I, Robot or the Green Mile - some people just don't realise those were ALSO books before as well. Most movies are! So I don't mind YA books being transformed as much as well :)

  2. I wish they would stop remaking old movies but I don't mind the books to movies however I wish they would go deeper into the YA Book Library, There are SO many awesome books that can be made into movies and they keep doing the super popular ones and most of the movies are a disappointment once you see them because they leave so much out. I think some unknown books might translate better into movies than the over popular ones :)

    Awesome Post!!!

    1. Yay remakes are annoying it's just ruins the originals. I agree, I don't read a of hyped books I would rather lesser known books would be made into movies, some that I have read that are self pubbed but not really popular would make epic movies. Thanks for stopping by :)

  3. I want my books left alone! Rarely do the movies ever do the books justice; and though I have that initial excitement of seeing my favorite characters come to life in a film... I usually walk away feeling let down. I'm with you -- sometimes a book just needs to stay a book. Awesome post!

    1. Yay finally someone who agrees I no the mobiles are never going to be what I want as its a totally different thing but at least make it a little like it or leave it alone. I wish more movie makers consulted maybe with fans. We would sometimes do a lot better job than them LOL

  5. I'm split on this because I think making movies of these books is getting more people to read. And I will come across books I didn't know about because a movie is coming out. But there certainly is a glut of them coming out right now! And it's totally bizarre to start talks for a movie before a book is even out. I don't get that at all. How do you know the book is good and will go over well?

I think YA movies is the latest trend and will probably fizzle out in the next couple of years. I'm feeling the same way about comic book movies right now. I love most of them but there sure are a lot!

  6. On one hand, I DO like that the books are being made into movies, because it's really the only way I GO to the movies ;) BUT, I totally agree that it's completely ridiculous to cast and start a movie before the book is even released. Of course, I also hate when the movie ends up being awful, too ;) Great topic!!
