A chat and a #Giveaway

Let's talk.... about blogging!

I have been blogging for about 4 and a half years and over a year ago I had a blog break for about 8 months. I just felt this pressure and it got too much so I left it. But I really missed it and considered coming back many times over that period and I eventually did. But now am getting that feeling again. It's not a pressure as such just a lack of euthasiam for blogging and I think there's many reasons for this. Such as..

  • My book choices are changing. I still love YA but I feel myself grabbing for a streamy adult book or a book that has adult themes more and more. Doing this makes me feel like I can't share my thoughts on those books as my blog is a "YA blog" and I don't want to .....segregate people from my blog

  • I feel that I don't read many "new" books. I try and I do read some new releases but I tend to read older books and maybe books that aren't "popular" and I am always worried people won't want to read reviews of old book that they may have seen reviews of over the years. Does my opinion really matter?

  • This year is the year of 're reads for me. I literally can't stop 're reading books, then I have nothing to review as I have reviewed and gushed about them before. So then I have lack of posts and what do I write about then. Are people even interested in random tags or posts about random books things?

These are just a few of my reasons that have made me feel lack of euthasiam for blogging.

BUT...

I am not giving up again. I am just going to be me. I love the books I read. I love my blog. I love it so much more now that my sister has 're- did it for me. So what do you think? The banner is the same but the layout is different and I have new buttons and a drop down menu. I just think it looks and feels better and its helping my enthusiasm to blog as its organised and pretty and just the way I want it.

If your still reading, I heart you and the point of this post was to say even if you feel lack of enthusiasm for blogging or a pressure to blog and read certain books just remember why you started blogging. I love sharing books I love with other book lovers. I love my blog and I am going to do it as long as I want too and post what I want :)

To celebrate my new blog layout and just because I want to. How about a giveaway? You can win your book of choose of a book from Book Depository under £10. Open INTERNATIONAL as long as you can receive books from Book Depository. Giveaway Ends 19th October  Giveaway Rules

  1. It's only natural that book tastes should evolve ? It happened (still happens) to me too, I try to read more diverse genres, or else, I'd have the feeling I'm reading the same book all over again every time. I also like to read about old books, different books, unknown books - so I can add them to my (ever growing) list or on the contrary, keep them away. And if you want to re-read, then we can share about the book if we both read it, or I can learn about yet another book. See ? No problem here ;)

  2. I mix my genres up a pretty good bit as well and I definitely feel like my tastes are regularly changing. I like seeing different genres on blogs and those tend to be the ones I follow the most regularly. I read a lot of different genres and pick up just whatever interests me and I think a lot of other people do too. As for older books I think there's a place for that. When it comes to new releases sometimes it feels like I'm seeing the same review 50 times and after awhile it isn't as interesting. There's so many older books that I've missed that an older book is as good as a new release. Plus I have a greater chance of getting an older book for cheap or from the library than a new book.
As for tags and stuff I've found that some of the posts that have the best reactions are actually non-book related. Have you seen Beyond the books over at KissinBlueKaren? It's a weekly meme on random topics (she already has a list) and it's such fun. If you're short on reviews that's a great meme to add in.
