Blog Tour: Shattered Vow by Kaylea Cross #REVIEW

Welcome to my stop on the Shattered Vows blog tour. Shattered Vows is an adult contemporary romance suspense that I enhkyed. Thanks to Ink Slinger PR for the e arc for an honest review!

Synopsis

She’s his best friend’s widow.  Molly Boyd’s entire world unraveled when tragedy turned the man she loved into her greatest threat. Her ex-husband’s death has left her pregnant and alone, struggling to put her shattered life back together—and her confusing feelings for his best friend aren’t helping matters. For years Jase has been a solid, steady source of comfort and friendship. Now she can’t stop seeing him as something more. And just as she’s wrestling with her shifting feelings, a new danger from her ex’s past threatens everything—including her and her unborn child’s lives.  But she’s always been the one.

Jase Weaver is an expert at unrequited love. Years ago he stood by and watched his best friend marry the woman of his dreams, and he’s endured his suffering in silence ever since. But when Carter’s self-destructive tailspin threatened Molly, Jase stepped in to make her safe. And when Carter died, Jase stepped up to be her rock. Now he can’t stay silent any longer. He’s wanted Molly forever and it’s time she knows it. So when a new threat against her emerges, Jase will put his own life on the line to protect her, no matter the cost.

Shattered Vows by Kayla Cross is the third book in the Crimson Point series but can be read as a standalone. It's a romantic suspense that I enjoyed.

We follow Jase who has always loved Molly but Molly was married to his best friend. When the two come together under tragedy and threat. They must decide to move forward together or apart.

The story had me hooked from page one, we start with a bang straight away. It slows in the middle but picks up for a fast paced ending.

We are told the story from both Jase and Molly. I liked both voices but preferred Jases a little more. What I found was theres a lot of internal thoughts from both characters so we get an insight to how there feeling. I did struggle with so much internal thought to start with but when I got used to it I enjoyed it.

Overall I enjoyed the characters and the storyline and am looking forward to reading more from Kaylea Cross.

Real moments were scarce.

Wait, let me rephrase. Important moments were scarce. You know the ones. The ones that defined your life and shaped you into who you were always meant to be. Or who you always wanted to be.

That was the beauty of rarity. It forces you to look at your life from new angles – makes you appreciate the struggle you’ve endured before.

As I caught my breath, the delicious heaviness of Easton on me, I knew I was having one of those rare moments that would forever influence my life.

Easton pushed my hair back, his touch featherlight. I couldn’t understand how he could be so forceful – so strong – one minute, taking everything he could, and then so soft the next. Easton Cole was an enigma and I desperately wanted to know more.

“My sweet Brynn,” he whispered in my ear, again and it sent shivers through my body. I was his. When he looked at me like that . . . I couldn’t breathe. He settled between my legs and I hummed with contentment, happy to have him close, comfortable enough to never let him leave.

The alarm on his phone began to ring and our reality smacked me in the face. “What happens next?” I asked in a small voice, feeling even smaller. I didn’t want to leave this room. I didn’t want to pop our bubble. I liked it.

Easton reached for his phone and silenced it. “We go home.”

I blinked, unable to say anything. He didn’t answer my question. Not really. His response was far too literal for my taste, but what was I to do?

So, instead, I kept quiet, watching the sun pour into our room, Easton’s skin turning a beautiful bronze color.

After a while, we broke apart, each of us getting dressed in silence. He stole sweet glances as I piled my hair onto my head and I snuck a few peaks as he brushed and styled his hair in front of the mirror.

Euphoric and sad, I teetered on the brink of begging him to stay here forever. I had no idea what kind of future we faced on the other side of the hotel door. But my mother’s words rang in my ears, reminding me to take it slow.

Live in the moment, darlin’ girl. Don’t forget to exist in the present while you’re waiting for the future.

Once our things were packed and ready to go, I took a moment to look around the room – our safe haven where so many truths were shared.

I’d forever remember this hotel and the way the room smelled. The way the sheets felt against my skin and the sounds Easton made in my ear as we made love. I'd remember all of it.

But what I’ll remember most is the way Easton looked at me and the way he made me feel without using any words at all.

Interview with SJwonderlandz & #Giveaway

I love Esty and bookish Merch so together it is one of my favourite places. I have discovered so many awesome bookish stores on Esty as well as on Instagram. One of those shops is SJwonderlandz run by the awesome Sara. She has some beautiful bookmarks and prints and I seriously have to stop myself from buying them all. Check out an interview with Sara below and a giveaway.

Photos taken from my Instagram account featuring Sara's bookmarks.

1) Can you tell me a little about yourself and why you started your esty store?

Although I have a creative day job sometimes I don't get to be as creative as I want to be. My mind is always churning. When I started my Etsy shop I was stuck in a rut of work, TV, sleep... I needed a hobby. Etsy provided me with the perfect outlet to channel my energy, combine my love for design and love of books and be excited about creating again! It also helped me to get back into reading.

2) When coming up with designs, what is your process?

I get my inspiration from favorite books or movies, current reads, author quotes or something I hear someone say. As cliche as it sounds inspiration is all around us and every idea comes to me through different channels. Once I get an idea that I am excited about it gets stuck in me, spinning around itching to get out! My recent Hobbit meals mug release was floating around in my head for about 4 months before I acted on it. Putting out new ideas is always thrilling and a little scary because you never know if people will like it as much as I do!

3) What are some of your favourite designs so far in your store?

My favorites are always changing, usually the answer is what ever I have designed most recently. I will say that my favorite pin is the As Travars pin inspired by ADSOM series. I really wanted the pin to look like a coin that I could use to travel between worlds and I think I captured that.

4) What are your favourite fandoms to design and what fandoms would you like to do more of?

Harry Potter, always. One thing I really love about bookstagram is discovering new fandoms and books to read. Of course I already knew of, had read, seen the movies and loved Harry Potter, but I have been introduced to so many series that I am not sure I would have stumbled on without my bookstagram friends.

5) Do you have anything in the works you can tell us?

Well, I'm always coming out with new bookmarks. I like to draw to relax. I would love to add more woodmarks and campfire mugs in the future. When I released the Hobbit mug I had 5 other ideas drawn up. I recently shared one more of those and hopefully will get to share the others!

Blog Tour: Deal with the Devil by Meghan March - #REVIEW & #Giveaway

I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for Deal With The Devil by Meghan March. Meghan is an author I discovered last year and she has fast become one of my favourite auto buy authors.

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller Meghan March comes the first book in a new riveting romance trilogy filled with international high-stakes, dangerous hidden agendas, and—in true March fashion—plenty of twists and turns.

Taken from my Instagram Here

ABOUT THE BOOK

DEAL WITH THE DEVIL
Forge Trilogy, Book #1
Red Dress Press | On Sale Now

BOOK TEASER:

From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes the story of the ruthless, calculating billionaire Jericho Forge. India Baptiste, his latest prey, is now caught in the high stakes game that has become her life since colliding with Forge, and she’ll need the luck of the devil to survive. India Forge’s life is now part of Jericho Forge’s calculated game.

COVER BLURB:

"You can put that man in a suit, but he'll never be tame."

One look at Jericho Forge and I knew the rumors were true. He was a predator, and he had set his sights on me.

I knew better than to bet more than I could afford to lose that night. I knew better than to bet myself. But desperation leads to bad decisions, and I thought there was no way I could lose.

I was wrong.

Now I have no choice but to make a deal with the devil.

Devil With the Devil is the first book in Megahn March's new Adult Contempoary romance Trilogy which was one of my highly anticipated 2019 reads and I am glad to say I really enjoyed it. From page one I was hooked. Meghan March has a way of hooking you in and just taking you on a ride whether you are ready for it or not. This book was a very fast paced, addictive book and will leave you with so many feels.

We get duel POV from both our protagonists. I liked both India and Jerchio Forge but Forge was such a dick... I loved him. He was arrogant, ballsy, said what he wanted however crude and shocking it was, did want the hell he wanted, was an absolute pig but I absolutely loved him! Under all that hot man was a little bit of light and I cant wait to undercover more in the next books. I also really enjoyed the additional players in the story and can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

The storyline as always in Megahn's books was a whirlwind of twists and shocks and I of course loved them. We start of with a main storyline that I enjoyed however a characters reaction to the situation when it comes to a head really didn't sit right with me but it's never all it seems so am open to discover more. Theres always smoke tendrils waiting around the cornor to take you in a different direction and I love it. I do I have to say I do have my suspicions of where part of the story might be heading but am excited to find out.

Overall I really enjoyed this first book in the series its a good soild start to the trilogy and I can't wait for more. 4 Stars

The Sunday post which created by Caffeinated Book Reviewer this is a post where we recap on the going on's on the blog the week previous and the week coming up as well as the awesome books we have received, bought or been gifted for review!

*If your just here for the book haul, scroll down!!

Hi! How has your week been? I survived my first week back at work after the holidays. I was so glad to get to the weekend. This week I only finished one book and I feel like am in a little reading slump but I'm trying to get myself out of it. Instead of reading on the way to work I have been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack and I am addicted. I know am late to the bandwagon but it's just so good. I love Lin-Manuel Miranda! I think my favourite songs are Right Hand Man, Satisfied and Who lives , who dies, who tells your story but I do love the whole thing.

Three Reviews: Christmas Camp by Karen Schaler, Conor (Boston Underworld #6) by A Zavarelli & Hating to love you by Erin Rylie

Reviews aren't my strongest point but of course I want to recommend books to you. So every three books I read I am going to do reviews unless it's for a blog tour or I have a lot to say they will be separate posts. So here is the last two books I read of the year and one of the first of 2019.

Hating to love you (Houston's Finest #1) by Erin Rylie
Released January 10th 2018
Read on Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 4 Stars

"Hating to love you was a book I had a great time reading. Erin Rylie is a great new voice in the adult contempoary romance world!"

Hating to love you is Erin Rylie's debut novel and it's one I really enjoyed. I had a great time with the characters in Hating to love you.  When I was reading I didn't want to put the book down. The only way to describe the writing is addictive. You want to eat it all up. It's witty and fun with a side of serious thrown in. However I did find that the leading ladies thoughts where a little repetitive at the start but Erin Rylie changed my mind on that as by the end I kinda understood the characters doubts and her repeated thoughts on it.

The characters felt three dimensional which I like. I liked both Rafe and Sophies voice and Rafe was quite Swoonworthy. I loved the relationship between Rafe and his best friend and Sophie and her friends. All the little mentions of books and movies where so fantastic.

The story is of over coming insecurities, grabbing on to chances and taking a leap of faith when you find yourself in a situation you didn't expect and having your friends by your side the whole way.

Overall I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to Carlos and Kesleys story in April. That ending!

Christmas Camp ( #1) by Karen Schaler
Released Already
Received paperback for honest review from Piatkus
Rating: 3.75 Stars

Christmas Camp was a good, light Christmas read that I enjoyed. It is written by Karen Schaler who is a screenwriter and the book comes across like a movie. It is in fact being adapted for the big screen. For the first half of the book I was engaged but toward the middle it slowed down and I lost a little interest, it did pick itself back up for a great ending.

What I really enjoyed was the story and characters. Haley lives and breaths her job in advertising and really wants to make partner. A new job comes up working with a Christmas toy company and Haley wants the job but her boss doesn't think she has the Christmas spirit to pull it off and gives it to someone else. She needs this contract to make partner. Her boss makes her a deal, she go to Christmas Camp and if she survives she can pitch for the contract and our story begins.

There is a romance in Christmas Camp which I did like however I didn't feel a lot of chemistry between the two characters to start with. I felt it was very one sided. We do get perspective from both characters although it's more toward Haley than Jeff which could be why I didn't feel the chemistry to start with but I did feel it by the end of the book.

The writing really made the visual of the cosy cabin setting and of things Christmas come alive however I did struggle a little with the story jumping between first and third person but once  I got used to it I was able to emerge myself in the story. Overall I enjoyed reading Christmas Camp. It made a perfect Christmas fireside read.

Conor (Boston Underworld #6) by A. Zaverlli
Released Already
Read on Kindle Unlimited
Rating: 3.9 Stars

Conor is the sixth book in A Zaverlli 's Boston Underworld series and this is a series I really enjoy and Conor was no exception. The series is a dark contempoary romance mafia series that is not for the faint hearted. These men are bad, they are loyal to only their brothers and their woman. They are violent, dominating and unrelenting but they have such soft hearts under neath and I love them.

Conor I think has the softest heart, he's such a sweetheart. I really enjoyed switching perspectives between Conor and his love interest Ivy. A Zaverlli writing is addictive it pulls you in for the ride. Even though I love the fast paced writing, in parts it was a little too fast for me. Conor was shorter than the other books in the series at 186 pages and I would have liked it to be a little more stretched out but overall I really enjoyed this book as well as the series as a whole. If you like mafia books and dark romances I highly recommend this series.

Have you read any of these books? Are you now interested after reading my reviews? Let's chat in the comments!
