15 Bookish Things About Me

This is inspired by a book tube video I recently saw from Jesse The Reader where he listed 25 bookish things about him. I decided to do this but instead of 25 I picked 15 as in all honesty I couldn't think of 25 :) Here goes:

I have never listened to an audio book.

I don't tend to read fantasy or dystopian.

I therefore haven't read The Hunger Games or Divergent

I 're read books all the time, it's a problem

I prefer paperbacks to hardbacks.

I am a slow reader BUT

I read faster on my kindle!

I cry at books ALOT whether it's because there sad or happy

I read ALL the time, on the bus to work, on the bus home from work, while am making dinner, you get the point

I usually prefer US book covers to UK book covers.

I do Judge a book by its cover.

My favourite book of all time is a series and its the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

I prefer Ron to Harry &
Jacob to Edward

My favourite childhood books where the Mr Majeika books by
Humphrey Carpenter.

Tell me some bookish things about you below.

Sunday Post #30: Its been a while

The Sunday Post was created by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer  this is a post where we recap the going on's on the blog the previous week and the week coming up as well as the awesome books we have received for review, brought or gifted.

It has been a while since I did a Sunday Post. If you follow my blog you will know my posts have been sporadic since mid October. To cut the story short I just had a bit of a blog slump but now am back with fresh ideas and feeling ready to tackle some blogging. So how is everyone? Read anything good lately? Give me some recommendations of books I need to be checking out.

This week on the blog:

I had such fun this week with my two blog posts. The first was Is Re Reading, like comfort food? And the second was Taylor Swift Has A Squad, I want one! [Original Tag] which I had the most fun ever doing. I made up my bookish squad. I would love to see you all doing your bookish squads, I promise it's such fun. If you do it tweet me @teamwolf1988 so I can see.

Talking Twitter, it's my favourite social media platform I love chatting with loads of book lovers and its a great way to keep up to date with all things book wise. Am always on there daily am kinda addicted.

This week I have some more fun posts coming up. I am loving just posting fun bookish posts and not feeling like I need to review books every day. I have 15 bookish things about me, Speedy Review's and a new feature my Number Ones which will be a monthly meme with my number one things of the month not necessarily bookish. I hope you stop by this week to check them out!

So needless to say am having a fun time blogging now and I hope it continues. If I was to mention all the books I have got since my last haul we would be here all day. So am just going to mention a few I got recently:

I received a ebook of An Indecent Proposal for review VIA the author.

I won an ebook of Hello from Eric @ Novel Ink on Twitter. I have heard amazing things about this book.

I received a paperback of Broken Sky VIA Usborne Publishing. This is one of my most anticipated of the year and am currently reading it and really enjoying it.

Thanks for stopping by. Leave me your Sunday Posts so I can check them out.

Taylor Swift Has A Squad, I want one! [Original Tag]

Taylor Swift has her squad of her favourite ladies as seen in her Bad Blood Video and I thought if Taylor Swift has a squad I want one and I especially want a bookish one!

According to the ever helpful Wikipedia a squad consists of 9 people excluding a "leader". So to obtain my squad I am going to pick 9 bookish character's I think will give me something different in my squad and will therefore make the ultimate squad! Here we go:

The first that comes to mind is Magnus Bane from TMI by Cassandra Clare. Magnus would be my "supermodel" of my squad, he's super cool and stylish and can kick ass at the same time.

I would then have Shane from the Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine. He is my bae. (yes am really using the word bae) He is loyal, can kick ass and I would just love to see Magnus and him together I think they would hate each other and it would be so amusing for me.

I need some girl power to kick ass so I would have Rose from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Rose is my ultimate kick ass girl. I need her on my team!

We need some hotness to look at in my squad so I would definitely have to have Eric from Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. Eric is one of my top book boyfriedns and he's a vampire, we need a vampire on this squad.

I think I need someone to help control this lot as am only playing pretend leader. So I think a good second in command would be Matthew from the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. If you have 'read the series you know Matthew is a born leader, an alpha plus he's my book boyfriend!

We need some more ladies up in this squad so I would have Anna from the It Girl series by Katy Birchall. She would keep everyone entertained as she is hilarious! And I would love to have Cassie from the 5th wave trilogy by Rick Yancey, as again she's kick ass and resourceful. She would definitely not get on with Rose. In all matters I don't think anyone would get on with Rose.

The last two members of the squad would be Dobby because you have to have some one from Harry Potter and he is my favourite and Magnus can give him some of his clothes. And finally Christian from 50 Shades by EL James, he's good with knots and stuff!! :)

What you all think of my squad? I kinda love it! I tag you all as I want to see your squads, if you do the tag tweet me @teamwolf1988 so I can see.  But I want to tag some people especially as they would make my "bookish blog squad"

Is Re Reading like comfort food?

One of my favourite things to do is 're read books I have loved and I can guarantee that I will 're read a favourite book or the whole series every month. To me 're reading favourites, being in that world again, surrounded by some of my favourite characters is the best thing ever.

When your feeling sad or down some people eat chocolate and ice cream, some exercise, or do something else for me I 're read my favourites books. Don't get me wrong as I generally 're read every month am not always sad, I just like being in my favourite worlds away from the stresses of daily life. Some may say this isn't healthy to immerse yourselves in another world , that your hiding away from real life but I say to those haters I don't care. I have a job I love, friends and family I love to pieces and in my spare time characters and worlds I love to visit again and again. I will always 're read books again and again for me it's the best thing about reading finding a book you can continually immerse yourself in!

What is your thoughts on 're reads? Yay or Nay? Do you read as comfort let me know in the comments below?

Starlight by Melissa Landers Launch Blitz #Giveaway

Hey there, booklovers!

I’m author Melissa Landers, and I’m thrilled to announce the release of STARFLIGHT, the first in a brand new sci-fi series from Disney-Hyperion. I originally pitched this story to my editor as “Overboard” (one of my favorite romantic comedies) meets “Firefly” (an amazing show that was tragically cancelled after one season). STARFLIGHT follows the misadventures of Solara Brooks, a penniless felon who indentures herself to her high school nemesis, Doran Spaulding, in exchange for passage to a new world. But when Doran’s memory is temporarily erased, Solara convinces him their roles are reversed—that she’s the master and he’s the servant—and leads him onto a renegade spaceship, where intergalactic shenanigans ensue. STARFLIGHT is very different in tone from the Alienated trilogy, but the story is still filled with all the things I love: humor, heart, and adventure.

What do reviewers have to say?

Get ready for blast-off! Action-packed and utterly addictive, nobody writes like Melissa Landers. A smart, satisfying romance set in a vividly detailed world, Starflight was just plain fun!” –New York Times bestselling author Amie Kaufman

“Teens will be bracing themselves during the swashbuckling action scenes. A great choice for fans of raw sci-fi action, reminiscent of the lawlessness presented in the television series Firefly.” –School Library Journal

“A lively tale of romance, space pirates, conspiracy, and made (as opposed to genetic) families.” –Booklist

If you like your sci-fi adventure served with a side of romance, I hope you’ll pick up a copy of STARFLIGHT today. It’s now available in stores and online.

Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Indie Bound / Book Depository

Sponsored by author. Reading Away The Days is not associated with this giveaway.

January Wrap Up

In real life

January felt like such a crazy month. It felt like I had been back at work forever after the holidays when in reality it's only been four weeks. January is also a stressful month for me anyway in work as I work in Childcare and once a year we get our annual inspection from social services (CPS if your in America) I always feel like am being judged even though I know am doing my job right, thankfully it wasn't too bad, the social worker told me not to get so worked up that am doing a fantastic job with the kids which is all I can ask for. I can now breathe in work till next year.

Blogging life

As you can tell from looking at my blog I only had a few posts up which is so disappointing. I just seem to have lost my blogging feels I really don't know what it is. I am slowly starting to get it back and I have so many ideas for posts but it's just getting them up. This month I plan to get more blog posts up and power through this slump.

Reading month

My reading month was fantastic. For me anyway. I read a total of 10 books which is so good for me. I am a super slow reader so I am excited by all the books I read. My kindle was my friend this month. I read so many books on it. I have discovered I read really fast on my kindle compared to physical books.  Note: all the books I read where mostly adult /erotica/ contemporary which is weird for me. I can definitely feel myself drifting from YA I need a good YA book to hook me back in to the genre and it just hasn't been happening.

Innocence Taken was a kindle freebie early January. It's a erotica romance novella. Beyond Control is the first book in the beyond love series it's new adult contemporary romance. I got it as a kindle freebie. Both books I gave 3 stars to.

This trilogy was a 're Read for me. I read it all last year and loved it. This is one of those series that if you love fifty shades or Sylvia Day's books your going to love this. Last year I gave it 4 stars the whole series but I think am going to up my rating to 4.5 stars.

Unbound is the first book in the colours of love series. It's another erotica romance but this one failed for me. It's a translated to English book I don't think it translated well I didn't really care for the characters or the writing. I gave it 2.5 stars.

A Night to forget  is the first book in a dulogy. This book wasn't very good. I am a sucker for insta love but this book just took the biscuit. The writing wasn't very good it just felt stale and the characters felt two dimensional. I feel that this book could have so much potential with more details and editing but it just didn't satisfy me. I do kinda want to read the second book to see what happens and if it makes a little more sense but I don't want to pay the price for it! I gave it 2 stars.

Night After Night is the first book in the seductive night series. I thought it was a great start to the series and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I gave it 3 stars.

I read Everything Everything last year and had so many mixed feelings about it. I read a ebook version and just felt that the story didn't come across very well.  So when I won a paperback in a giveaway I decided to give it another chance and am glad I did. My rating when from a 3 star to a 4 star.

Hard pressed is the second book in the hacker series. I liked this book better than the first one and gave it 3 stars.

How was your month? Read any good books I should check out? Let Mr know in the comments below.

Guest Post: My Favourite Famous Families book Catherine Doyle

My Favourite Famous Families by Catherine Doyle

The Blood for Blood series is all about family. Dodgy, dodgy families full of criminally handsome, mildly immoral characters. Just the way I like ’em. In fact, the Falcone family motto is: La Famiglia Prima di Tutto, which means the family comes before everything else. I’ve always been fascinated by family dynamics, especially the interplay between siblings. Here are some of my all-time favourite, fascinating families, from books, movies and real life.

The Corleone Family in The Godfather. Considering the Mafia families I write are inspired by movies like The Godfather, it’s no surprise that Vito Corleone and his deadly brood of mobsters rank highly in my list of firm favourites. They’re dangerous, impulsive, unpredictable and successful. Enigmatic and nebulous, and loyal (well, for the most part) to one another.

The Addams Family. Because, why not? Creepy and cool and totally dysfunctional, these guys were big players in my childhood. One half of me wanted to run a mile from them – especially Morticia, but the other half of me secretly wanted to be part of them.

The Salvatore Brothers from The Vampire Diaries. OK, I’m really just talking about two brothers here, but that still counts, right? Right? Anyone who’s read the Blood for Blood series so far will know I have a thing for hot, dangerous brothers, so this selection comes as no surprise. These sexy vampires are both outrageously hot. They contain within them the potential for great darkness and the capacity for great love. And that makes them endlessly compelling. And hot. Did I mention that they were hot?!

The Kennedy Family. I have a mild obsession with the Kennedys, OK? America’s most famous, political family, they have been fraught with scandal and tragedy since the days of President John F. Kennedy himself. Then there are all those rumours – the Mafia, the demise of Marilyn Monroe and the many, many sordid affairs in between. They are absolutely fascinating, and still inherently powerful to this day.

The March sisters from Little Women. Who didn’t want to be a March sister when they were younger? Obviously Jo was the best one, but I really feel like if I lived in ye olde times and was around the same age, I would have fit right in with all that perfect mayhem.

The Weasley Family from Harry Potter. I defy you to find me someone who doesn’t love the Weasleys, or at least 90% of them (sorry Percy). So many charming people in one family! The twins were always my favourite because like me, they were tricksy and obsessed with pranks, but they all have their good points. Yes, even Percy. I love big families, and big wizarding, funny families like this one are just perfect.

The Cullens from Twilight. Say what you will about Twilight, but if those Cullens didn’t have the cushiest life, and the coolest stepdad, then who did? I was always a Jasper girl myself, but I loved the sense of loyalty and mystery that surrounded them all. Once you get past the vaguely incestuous undertones and remind yourself that even though they’re all stepsiblings, they are definitely not related, it’s all smooth sailing from there!

The Vonn Trapp Family from The Sound of Music. I love everything about this musical. I love the songs, I love Maria, I love the Captain and I love all those seven children, even the annoying ones!

Have you read the Blood For Blood Series? Thoughts? Are you excited to read it? I loved the first book and can't wait to dive into the next book, Inferno!
