Hey Amy! Thanks for taking the time out to do this interview with me. Could you tell us a bit about the first in your paranormal romance thriller trilogy They Walk.
Hi Megan, thank you for having me! They Walk center’s around the narrator Maggie and her friends as they go to a party that turns deadly. She faces some pretty awful things, that will ultimately test her character and of those around her. In the middle of the dead rising, Maggie must come to terms about her feelings for her brother’s friend that she has been trying to suppress. With an undecided love triangle, the rising dead, power outages, and no sign of hope, she and her friends are faced with a horror they never saw coming. Will they react in time to save their lives and the lives of those they care for? Maggie is going to have to dig deep to find an inner strength she didn't know she even had, if she wants to survive. Some will be lost and some will be found, but will everyone make it.
Where did you get the idea for They Walk?
I’ve been a hardcore zombie fan for a while now, and a couple months ago I had a marathon of the AMC series The Walking Dead. That night I ended up have crazy dream about a girl named Maggie who had to fight dozens of zombies. The next morning I started writing right away, and even though I changed most of the plot and outcome (because it wouldn’t make sense, the dream was wako) it still stuck with me to keep it going!
How does it feel to have your book They Walk out there for people to buy and therefore critique?
It’s so exciting! It’s been such a fast ride of writing, editing, and listing it that all I can still feel is super excitement. I never thought in a million years that I’d end up having one of my stories out to buy. I have yet to face any sort of critique, but whether they be good or bad I welcome them just the same.
Paranormal romance is a big thing at the minute with vampires', werewolves etc being very popular. Why do you think these creatures are so interesting to us?
From just the way I came up with my own book idea, I think it’s because paranormal romance is the thing of fantasy. Something that we all enjoy, even it’s not possible to occur, it’s still great to imagine.
Do you like reading Paranormal books yourself. If yes, what are some of your favourites?
I live to read paranormal romance! I started reading Fear Street by R.L. Stine when I was younger and even now I still reread all the works by Laurell K. Hamilton. Other favorite are everything by Kelley Armstrong, Lauren Kate, Richelle Mead, Cassandra Clare, Carrie Ryan, Karen Chance, Lili St. Crow, Sophie Jordan, Julie Kagawa, Rachel Caine, L. J. Smith, Catherine Fisher, Melissa De La Cruz, Patricia Briggs, and Kim Harrison.
Is there any books you are looking forward to reading that are being released this year?
Oh yes, Sophie Jordan’s Vanish in her Firelight series and Laurell K. Hamilton’s Hit List in her Anita Blake series.
They Walk is the first in the in a trilogy. How is work coming on with the rest of the trilogy?
It’s going very well actually! The second installment entitled They Stumble is ready for release this June. I’m currently finishing up the rough draft the final book as we speak. Once the editing and rewrites are finished, I’m hoping to have that one out sometime in July.
Finally do you have any advise for aspiring authors?
Don’t give up. The hardest part is writing your book in the first place, and all the rest is just fun. So enjoy yourself, and don’t be afraid to take the leap. J
