Hi Megan! Sure. Well, as we know, my name is Ashley. I have two daughters, been married for 5 ½ years, own my own freelance editing company, and I am a college student. Oh, and we cannot forget my three interestingly loving crazy cats.
You have released you first book, Nightmares. Can you tell us a little about Nightmares?
Sure! “Nightmares” is actually more the prologue to a bigger story. It’s…the beginning. When I am finished writing the whole story, the name of the book will be changed to “Kamela”. The synopsis for just “Nightmares” is:
"Kristi starts having nightmares of a creature attacking her on her way home from work. What do these dreams mean? Will these nightmares come true? Will she survive?"
You are also a freelance editor. Do you prefer editing to writing? Has being an editor helped your writing?
I love being an editor and it’s my main job (other than being a mom). Writing is just a side thing and it’s on the back burner when I am editing. I still make mistakes when writing, just like others, but as far as I can tell I have made less mistakes because of being an Editor first and foremost. How do you manage to juggle writing, editing, looking after your children and studying in college? It seems like really hard work, but it sounds worth it.
Honestly, I have been asked this question by everyone, and I just do not have an answer for them. I just do. I find a way to balance it all out.
A.L Kay's Book History!
* Favorite book as a child?
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
* Favorite book as a teenager?
I actually did not read too much as a teen. I read more Shakespeare if anything.
* Favorite book you have read this year?
Oh…tough one. I have read so many good books so far this year. I think, if I had to choose, it would have to be two, one that’s not even out yet that I got to read; “My Wolf’s Bane” by Veronica Blade and “Breaking Dawn” by C.C. Hunter. They were SO good!
*A book that you have read that has stuck with you and why?
Way too many have stuck in my head and all for different reasons.
*A book you wish you had written and why?
Breaking Dawn by C.C. Hunter. Though I found many errors in the story, the story line itself I really liked and it made me want more.
Are you currently working on any other projects at the minute?
Yes. I have the rest of Nightmares aka “Kamela”, then I have three other works in the progress (one is a short for an anthology).
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank you Megan, for taking the time to interview me. J
