My Top 10 YA Book Cover Choices by Kimberly Kinrade
This is never an easy thing, picking a favorite of anything. To pick my top 10 favorite YA book covers was especially hard, because there are so many beautiful covers out there and I like many of them for different reasons. So please take this list with a grain of salt, as my list would probably change daily.
These are in no particular order, but I do love all ten of these covers for different reasons.
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev. I love the original art, the magic in it, how it's similar to a lot of YA covers, but has it's own unique elements as well.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I love the mask, the color contrast and the edgy black and white look to it with the blue. Very artsy.
Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor. Another great cover in the series. I love it for the red splashes of color and face painted mask and the black and white edge to it.
The Silver Sphere by Michael Dadich. Love the girl on the cover and the font for the title. It looks like a mix of YA and epic fantasy which is awesome!
Family Magic by Patti Larsen. The blue eye is just fabulous, and the font for the title and author name works so well. Just the whole package is cool!
Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This is just an amazing cover. Simple and elegant but layered with the X-Ray like look to the foot and leg. I love the red shoe and how it pops off the page, and the title font as well.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: Yes, I love this cover. It's simple and high contrast and very symbolic, all of which I like.
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher: First, I love keys, always have, so the key on this cover rocks. Also, I love symbolic covers and this is interesting and layered and slightly sinister looking.
Refrain by Emlyn Chand. This book isn't coming out for awhile, but I love the cover. The guy is sexy and mysterious and the storm in the background mixed with music notes and sheets of music combined with the title is awesome. Very layered with many meanings.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: I love the concept for the book and the cover (especially the paperback) is very cool with a layered flap that opens to more images. I like the color scheme of black, white and red and the symbolic look to it that gives the feel of a circus.
But there are so many more to choose from, so don't hold me to this list forever. Which are your favorite covers?
Forbidden Mind Blurb
49% of Americans believe their government officials are honest. I don't know these officials, or their supporters, but I know their secrets, and 49% of Americans are wrong.
My employers pay me well to be right, to know things others can't. But I don't know why they brought that boy in, strapped to a stretcher, barely conscious. He asked me for help when I could give none.
I'm a wealthy spy, a talented artist, a martial arts black belt, and a prisoner. They tell me that on my eighteenth birthday, I will be released, free to go to thecollege of my dreams. It'smy eighteenth birthday, and a man in black is at my door. I know he's not here to free me.
I know, because I can read minds.
My name is Sam, and this is my story.
So begins the tale of Sam and Drake--from the time they link minds, forging a bond that leads to an unconventional romance--to their fight for survival against the corrupt, twisted organization known as 'Rent-A-Kid.'
"...a thrilling, dark and deeply romantic read that had me sitting on the edge of my seat and eagerly awaiting the next installment." ~ Refracted Light Young Adult Book Reviews
"The plot is very ALIAS and DARK ANGEL-like with X-MEN as its backdrop (awesome combo!). Forbidden Mind BLEW my mind!" ~Sour Skittles Book Blog
