Dream Boy Blog Tour: Annabelles, Likes & Dislikes & #Giveaway

If dreams can come true…then so can nightmares

One night Annabelle dreams of the perfect boy: tall and handsome with impossible blue eyes. Then, just as suddenly as he appeared, he’s gone…until he walks into her science class the next day. Perfect and REAL. The boy of her dreams. And when he brushes past her, he whispers “Annabelle.” Suddenly, Annabelle’s got the perfect boyfriend and a date to homecoming. Her life is like a dream come true...until her dreams stop and the nightmares begin.

Guest Post- Annabelles Likes & Dislikes

3 Things Annabelle Dislikes

1.      Her hometown.

Annabelle is tired of the smallness and closeness and slowness of her small town (the fictional “Chilton,” set in the New River Valley of southwestern Virginia).

In Annabelle's words:

Time goes slower in Chilton than anywhere else on earth. It should be the town motto: Two years in Chilton is eternity.

2.      Stephanie Gonzales.

As a writer, I quite like Stephanie Gonzales. She's uber-gorgeous, full of her own sense of self, and has a wicked ability to zero in on someone's emotional bruises for no other reason than to firmly press them—all while pretending to be administering first aid. Definitely someone I'd like to spend more time with on the page.

Annabelle, however, disagrees. In her words:

With her sleek black hair and almond eyes, she looks like Cleopatra, accessorized with pompoms instead of an asp. She moved here at the beginning of last year, and she’s ruled our class with a golden fist ever since.

There are some advantages to being noticed by Stephanie Gonzales, but there are more advantages to being ignored. Luckily my friends and I are, for the most part, invisible.

3.      Chemistry (sort of).

            Here she is in class:

“X- ray crystallography captures the distinct lattice pattern of the crystal, so we can see how the electrons that surround the atoms interact with the incoming X- ray photons…”

Mr. Ernshaw might as well have been speaking Xhosa, which is the only language I know of that begins with an X. It wasn’t that I didn’t like chemistry, or even that chemistry didn’t like me. It was just…Friday. And last period. And COME ON MR. ERNSHAW CAN’T YOU GIVE US A BREAK?

 3 Things Annabelle Loves

1.      Her friends.

If I had to choose a quote that shows how important Will, Talon, and Serena are in her life, I'd pretty much end up quoting the entire book.

2.      Music.

Even though Annabelle is a talented artist, she loves the social aspect of listening to music, going out to hear bands, and dancing with her friends. We probably have my coauthor Madelyn to thank for this. You can read about her dream of being a rock star here (http://wwwburiedinbooks.blogspot.com/2014/06/blog-tour-guest-post-from-author.html).

3.      Her dreams.

Dreams are where Annabelle goes to escape the humdrum of everyday life. (And where she finds her dream boy.)

            In her words:

It seemed sometimes like sleeping had become my real job, and the waking hours—school, homework, family—well, that was just me resting up for my dreams. Which maybe wasn’t so bad, in the grand scheme of things. At least my dreams got me out of Chilton, if only for the night

About authors Mary & Madelyn:

Mary Crockett likes turtles, licorice, and the Yankees. Madelyn Rosenberg likes cats, avocados, and the Red Sox. Luckily they both like the weirdness of dreams (and each other) enough to write novels together. The friendship has survived three moves, six kids and countless manuscript revisions. Madelyn lives just outside of Washington, D.C. Mary remains in the mountains near their hometowns in southwestern Virginia. You can find them on Twitter @marylovesbooks and @madrosenberg or their blogs at www.marycrockett.comand www.madelynrosenberg.com.
