I was so excited to receive an early copy of Shine for review. I read the first two books, Shade and Shift, in the trilogy last year and really enjoyed them, I needed to know how the trilogy ended. I had so many questions that needed answers. Thankfully Shine answered all those questions and ended the series just the way I wanted it to!
Quick recap for any of you who don't know the back round of the Shade Trilogy. The trilogy is set in a world where anyone under the age of 18 years old can see and communicate with ghosts ever since the Shift occurred nearly eighteen years ago. I loved this concept when I read the first two books and continued to enjoy it in Shine.
In Shine Aura and Zachary are finally together! *Yay* I loved Logan but I have always had an extra soft spot for Zachary. When I read the first few chapters of Shine my heart was literally in my thoart along with Aura's. I was thinking to myself, Jeri don't do this, don't break Aura's heart again and my own. Thankfully the situation isn't what we think *high five to Jeri*
From the first page we are on a rollercoaster of emotions with the characters, there's sadness, grief, anger, happiness, joy, shock and more. My emotions where all over the place with the characters. This is one of the things I love about Jeri Smith-Ready's writing, we feel the emotions of the characters and are invested in there safety and life's, which I love.
Throughout the book the pieces finally started to come together. I gasped a few times and was thinking to myself that's why this and that happened. I took an even more disliking to the DMP and there associates. There treatment of the ghosts and one character who I really like, seriously annoyed me! I was gunning for there downfall.
I not only loved the main characters of the series but I loved the other characters that made up the trilogy as well. They were all really well developed and all there stories were wrapped up well. Megan & Dylan! All I can say is so cute!
Overall, Shine was AMAZING. The series is so addictive, I couldn't put it down. It has everything a book could have, action, adventure, mystery, great characters, romance and so much more. The writing is great and the flow and pace of the story is perfect. The ending felt just right and am glad it ended that way. Everything felt like it came full circle. If you haven't read the trilogy, I highly recommend you do. I can't wait to read more of Jeri Smith Ready's work.
5/5 STARS- You won't be disappointed!
